AGI is coming fast

As a dealer principal, do you follow artificial general intelligence (AGI)? Does your dealership have a plan? CEO Juice is planning, I think you should at least be aware. I worried that clients would think I had lost it if I published this blog too soon but today I read about Oprah's new ABC show "AI and the Future of Us" and decided it was time.

I started following AGI when I read Ray Kurzweil's, Age of spiritual machine in 1999 and then The Singularity is near in 2005. While Kurzweil was the 1st to have the vision, Elon Musk was the 1st to have the vision AND enact a plan.

Musk formed OpenAI (ChatGPT) as a non-profit and named it "Open" as an open platform to share AI. He is no longer involved and thinks it should now be called ClosedAI. It is now a for-profit company and Microsoft is the largest shareholder. Both Bill Gates and Sam Altman from OpenAI are on the Oprah show.

The simplest way to think of AGI is when we invent a computer smarter than us, not just at playing chess, but in general smarter at everything humans do. Kurzweil said 25 years ago that when we invent a computer smarter than us, it would be the last thing we need to invent. He went on to predict that AGI would evolve "exponentially," meaning so fast that humans would rapidly get left behind unless they started to embed technology.

To have a computer smarter than us, the computer 1st needs to know everything we know. To do this it sucks up everything online, this is called a large language model (LLM), imagine the size of everything posted online, few companies or countries have the computers needed to do this. Fortunately for the USA most/all of these companies are in California. Whoever gets there 1st  and has the "exponential advantage" will likely rule the world. Imagine if China, Russia or North Korea gets there 1st, they are all trying hard. I was reminded of the nuclear race when I watched Oppenheimer, except this will be much bigger. Today the main leaders in the race are OpenAI with Microsoft as it's main investor, Google's Gemini and then Anthropic (started by former OpenAI members). Meta (Facebook) is also a contender, however my money is on newcomer X.ai from Musk (who started OpenAI).

Musk will soon lead in the AGI race, he also has Neuralink embedded in two humans now, remember if we want to keep up with AGI we have to embed technology. In addition, the robot Optimus is now working in Tesla factories. Optimus is a robot that will have AGI embedded and has Tesla vision. Musk says there is a significant risk that AGI goes rogue, spreading lies and that there needs to a "digital town square" for free speech, hence his purchase of Twitter. Musk predicts AGI within a year but says with that rogue risk, especially in the current political environment. Imagine if AGI is in place (or in control) before the 2028 election.AGI risk

If I said that by 2030, there would no longer be people working in offices, you might say that's crazy talk, but review what's happening. If you think there is a small chance I'm right, should you at least have a plan?

If there were no people in offices and we were sending robots to repair hardware, what else might change? If there were no people in offices, therefore, there would be no paper or printing, and all information would be electronic. All the rules for what should happen in your business need to be stored electronically. Our process ID815 needs to expand to your entire business, and everything needs to be automated so computers can run it.

I have signed up for Neuralink, I have been dealing with 9 autoimmune diseases for 30 years so I qualify, would you?

I am super excited for the future! We are as ready as we can be, are you?

AGI is going to be the biggest change in the history of civilization, happening now, in our lifetime. What a time to be alive!
